Why even skeptics should tackle climate change – CNN

Yet another propaganda puff-piece for global warming appeared on the Communist News Network, this one by Kumi Naidoo.

Over the past few years, climate-change skeptics have repeatedly used cold snaps as proof that our planet is not heating up.

This argument ignores NASAs recent analysis of 2010 as the warmest year on record and the World Meteorological Organizations pronouncement of the first decade of this century as the hottest since records began.

And his argument ignores NASA’s recent revelation that they doctored the data, that 2010 isn’t the warmest year on record, and that we’ve been in a period of steady cooling over the last decade.  But why let that interfere in non-climate-skepticality?

Global warming does not simply mean that temperatures are always climbing. What it does mean is

Whatever they want it to mean.  Which is why many Global Warming Apologists have stopped calling it “global warming” and started calling it “climate change” instead.

Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Joel Pett may have hit upon something with a cartoon he drew for last year’s climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark. It shows a scientist addressing a large audience at a climate summit. A spectator at the left side of the panel asks his neighbor: “What if it’s a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing?”

It depends entirely on your definition of “better world.”   If you’re looking forward to a world where at least half the people on earth have been killed off, where you cannot have bright interior lighting, where you can get barely enough water out of your shower head or toilet to take care of business, where gasoline and other fuels are triply or quadruply more expensive, where industrial activity is crushed and highly regulated, where only the politically-connected are allowed to produce and prosper, and where every single economic activity you could possibly engage in is regulated by an international government bureaucracy, and where none of this has the slightest effect whatsoever on the climate, then the post-AGW world could be for you.
